Engineering for success

I'm Finn McKinley, an aspiring aerospace engineer from Twizel, New Zealand, currently studying a Bachelor of Mechatronics Engineering with Honours at the University of Canterbury. As an ex-head student of Twizel Area School, I developed strong leadership, teamwork, and communication skills.

I have attended multiple leadership camps, as well as science and technology forums and workshops, further fueling my passion for innovation. With a focus on rocketry, I am driven to design liquid rocket engines and push the boundaries of engineering.

Work Experience

I have Gateway work experience in the hydro-electric industry working with both Genesis and Meridian on-site in 2023 and 2024, as well as 5+ years working in the hospitality industry. In addition I have 3+ years experience in a metalworking workshop where I have learnt how to operate a range of machines such as lathes, MIG and stick welders, drill presses, soldering, laser cutters, 3D printers, etc.

My 2 favourite things are challenges, and oppertunities to learn something - preferably by doing it!
